TP Greece and Aegean Rebreath Protect Posidonia in Porto Rafti
In collaboration with Aegean Rebreath and the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (HCMR), TP Greece launched the “Do Not Disturb” – Posidonia Oceanica initiative 2 years ago. The program aims to safeguard one of the Mediterranean’s most important underwater habitats.
At TP Greece, environmental responsibility is a core value that shapes our actions and partnerships. Through our TP Environment program, we support initiatives that protect natural ecosystems and promote sustainable practices.
Why Posidonia Matters
Posidonia Oceanica forms underwater meadows that act as the “lungs” of the sea. These ecosystems support marine life, improve water quality, protect coastlines, and contribute to climate balance. Their preservation is essential for both environmental and human well-being.
Reducing Human Impact
Unregulated anchoring poses a serious threat to Posidonia meadows, causing long-term damage to marine ecosystems. Through the “Do Not Disturb” initiative, TP Greece and Aegean Rebreath are addressing this challenge by installing sustainable eco-moorings. These moorings restore damaged areas, prevent further destruction, and promote responsible boating.
The project is supported by scientific expertise from HCMR and collaboration with public authorities and maritime stakeholders. As a result, this initiative follows a coordinated approach within the Blue Municipalities Network to ensure effective and sustainable protection across Greece.
February 11 Initiative in Porto Rafti

A major milestone in the “Do Not Disturb” program took place on February 11 in Porto Rafti. This marked the next phase of the initiative with the installation of eco-moorings.
The activity began with the gathering of participants at Porto Rafti port. This was followed by on-site coordination and visual documentation of the preparations.
The installation process was officially launched with the presence of TP Greece’s CMO, who actively participated in the action. A short statement by the CMO emphasized TP’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

The event was further honored by the presence of the Secretary General of Ports & Maritime Policy, Evangelos Kyriakozopoulos. It also received international coverage from Agence France-Presse (AFP), alongside leading Greek media representatives.
This initiative demonstrated how collaboration between the private sector, scientific institutions, public authorities, and civil society can deliver tangible environmental impact.
Looking Ahead
Through “Do Not Disturb,” TP Greece continues to reinforce its commitment to protecting Greece’s natural heritage. By investing in sustainable solutions, supporting scientific research, and engaging communities, we aim to create lasting positive change for our seas and future generations.
